NAMPA -- There's a nationwide trend in rising numbers of homeless women and children, and Idaho is not exempt from it.

On Wednesday, Reverend Bill Roscoe announced the Boise Rescue Mission is taking action to create another shelter for those in need.

The mission just purchased the former O.G. Bad Academy building on 16th Avenue in Nampa. That building will be remodeled and the men from the Nampa Lighthouse mission will be able to move in sometime later this year.

Meanwhile, the Nampa Lighthouse building will be demolished, and crews will build a new shelter.

Once complete, the men will move back into the Lighthouse building -- and women and children can take the newly remodeled building on 16th Avenue.

Roscoe says work should start early next month.
