BOISE -- From Mountain Home to Boise, the United States Air Force is trying to get the word out in Southern Idaho about possibly bringing in a new fleet of fighter jets to Gowen Field or to Mountain Home Air Force Base.
The second of three public informational meetings was held Wednesday night in Boise.
The Air Force is considering bringing in large, F-35 fighter jets to the region.
Col. Bruce Smith with Mountain Home Air Force Base says noise is the obvious concern among some residents in Boise, but the sound won't have an impact in Mountain Home, "The noise, compared to what we have down at mt home now would be imperceptible. No more than two decibels abound the Mountain Home area and there will be no residential areas affected by that."
Col. Smith says if Mountain Home is selected, it could have a huge economic effect on the community.
The last public meeting will be held Thursday at Mountain Home Junior High School starting at 5:00 p.m.
