ONTARIO, Ore. -- Two Arizona women were arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 in Ontario after Oregon State Police say they found around 5 pounds of heroin hidden in a Valentine teddy bear baskets in their car's trunk.
Around 6:40 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2013, a trooper stopped a 2005 Honda Accord headed west for failing to signal lane changes. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Sonla Marquez-Lozano and her passenger, 20-year-old Yedid Zamudio-Vazquez, both from Phoenix, Arizona.
Upon further investigation, the trooper discovered the heroin concealed in two teddy bear baskets in the trunk. The seized heroin has an estimated value of $200,000.
Both women were arrested and booked into the Malheur County Jail for unlawful possession and distribution of a controlled substance - heroin.
The OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
