BOISE – A man suffered what police say appear to be life-threatening injuries after a pallet of mirrors fell on him at a business in east Boise this afternoon.
Police, firefighters and EMS responded to a call at 3:15 p.m. that a man was trapped beneath a large pallet of mirrors at U.S. Mirror & Glass, which has a warehouse located off West McGregor Drive and Gekeler Lane.
According to his fellow workers, the accident happened inside the warehouse. Boise Police officers were first on scene and began trying to uncover the trapped man. The pallet of mirrors weighs an estimated 5,000 pounds.
When rescuers were able to uncover the man, he was unconscious and not breathing. Firefighters performed CPR and the man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. A police spokesperson says his injuries appear to be life-threatening.
The injured man is believed to be in his 50s and is an employee of the business.
Boise Police are investigating, but say this appears to be a tragic accident.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration usually conducts their own investigation into accidents in the workplace.
