BOISE -- Officials said widespread power outages occurred sometime early Monday morning, and affected up to 3,800 customers in parts of Canyon and Malheur counties. Idaho Power says there was a problem with transmission lines.
Customers near Fruitland, Caldwell, Notus, Wilder, Parma, New Plymouth, and Nyssa and Adrian, Oregon experienced power outages Monday morning.
KTVB also received reports of phone line outages.
Because of the various outages, the Notus and Parma school districts closed Monday.
Idaho Power Media Representative Lynette Berriochoa said the number of customers reportedly out of power fluctuated throughout the day.
Berriochoa said crews had been on site fixing the power since shortly after 4 a.m. The cold temperatures --- below zero in many places -- are making the repairs critical for people who use electricity for heat.
"We are certainly anxious to get the power back up as soon as possible," Berriochoa said.
As of 5:00 p.m., everyone that was affected had their power back on according to the Idaho Power outage line.
