BOISE – Some local painters took advantage of Sunday’s beautiful weather to paint the scenery and they found plenty of inspiration in Capitol Park.
"To try and capture an early spring day with some color,” said Shannan Sutch. “That's what I'm working on. It’s been too cold for too long, so it's nice to get out."
Sutch and fellow painter Rick Friesen set up side-by-side in the park to capture the local colors.
"I like to get out and do landscapes on location," Friesen said. "I look around and find something that strikes you. Right now I'm just looking at the strong shadows between those buildings over there with the light and the dark, the reflected light on that other building. A mixture of man-made stuff and nature.”
For Friesen, landscape painting is a profession as well as a hobby.
“Not many people have a job where people tell them what they do is beautiful all day,” Friesen said. “It’s good work if you can get it."
