BOISE -- A new bike trail, named after Boise resident and Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong, is set to be completed this fall.

The single late bike track at Boise Hills Park in North Boise will be just over a half-mile in length.

Armstrong was on hand Wednesday to visit with crews and volunteers working on the new trail, which is intended for kids under age 12.

"What I find now that I'm a mom and have a three year old is that there's not a lot of safe places on dirt to recreate for those younger kids," said Armstrong. "So we hope that this park bring those kids that are under 12 years old to really come out and feel safe, get the skill level higher, and they're able to do that in a safe way."

The $3,200 project, which is funded by a neighborhood reinvestment grant, is expected to be completed this fall.
