NAMPA – Students graduating from three Nampa high schools this May will be allowed to use the Idaho Center for their graduation ceremonies.

The Nampa School District today announced that community donations and parking fees will be used to rent the Idaho Center.

The district has been dealing with a budget crisis and did not have the $12,000 needed to rent the building for the graduations. Students at Nampa, Columbia and Skyview high schools were told they were going to have to hold graduation ceremonies at their schools.

"We appreciate the support of different groups and the Idaho Center to allow the graduations to go forward as originally planned," said Dr. Tom Michaelson, Nampa School District superintendent. "The many expressions of support from the community have been a boost to our students and teachers during these difficult times."

It costs about $4,000 per high school to rent the Idaho Center. So far, the schools have received public contributions totaling $9,800. The rest of the rent monies will be provided by sharing parking revenues during the three graduations. It costs $5 per vehicle to park at the Idaho Center.

Contributions were received from: Above and Beyond Home Health & Absolute Home Health of Canyon County, Nampa High School Booster Club and Jim Kusterer.
