BOISE -- The Ada County coroner has released the identity of a man whose body was found in a local canal Thursday morning.
The deceased man is 56-year-old Roy Claude Fosness. He has been in the Boise area for some time but has no known address, according to the coroner.
A canal worker found the body in the New York Canal at the bridge crossing on Hubbard Road near 10 Mile Creek Road.
An autopsy has been completed and the coroner says it appears the man drowned. There were no obvious signs of trauma on the body. The body is believed to have been in the water for several days or possibly longer.
Toxicology studies to determine an official cause of death could take weeks.
The Boise Police Department is handling the investigation.
