BOISE – A Pocatello man has been arrested and charged with a road rage incident in Boise Sunday night, according to Boise Police.
A witness reported to police seeing the driver of an SUV try to cut off a cyclist on W. Overland Road near S. Orchard Street around 7 p.m. The witness was able to provide police with the man’s license plate.
The cyclist said the incident began with an exchange of words and some hand gestures, and then escalated when the driver of the SUV cut in front of the cyclist and slammed on the brakes. The cyclist was not hurt.
Officers later located the SUV at the intersection of W. Overland Road and S. Vista Avenue.
The driver, 37-year-old Zachary E. Jones, smelled of alcohol and was given several field sobriety tests, which he failed.
Jones was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, DUI and driving without privileges. Police say he has a suspended driver’s license in Idaho and his license had been surrendered in another state.
