BOISE – A local attorney is charged with battery with the intent to commit rape, according to Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden.
Fifty-year-old John Prior of Meridian was indicted on the felony charge by the Canyon County Grand Jury on April 4. He turned himself in at the Ada County Jail the next day.
Prior is scheduled to appear in a Canyon County courtroom on April 20.
Nampa Police began investigating in May 2011 when the alleged victim came forward.
A special prosecutor from the Idaho Attorney General's office is handling the case at the request of the Canyon County prosecutor.
Prior has a law office in downtown Nampa.
