TWIN FALLS -- Firefighters in the Magic Valley have their hands full.

Bureau of Land Mangement Twin Falls District are battling nine wildfires totaling more than 18,000  acres. Fires that started near Paul, Idaho and Carey, Idaho were both contained and controlled Monday night.

BLM Twin Falls says the majority of the fires started by lightning when a large storm cell blew across southern Idaho Monday afternoon, but one is believed to be human caused.

The fires are:

Heaven Fire

  • Start: 12:10 p.m. Monday
  • Location: 10 miles SW of Hall City, ID
  • Estimated Size: 700 acres
  • Resources: Seven engines, two dozers, one helicopter and 8 smokejumpers
  • Estimated containment: July 4
  • Estimated control: July 6
  • Structures: None threaten


North Laidlaw Butte

  • Start: 5:19 p.m. Monday
  • Location: 1 Miles NE of North Laidlaw Butte (Craters of the Moon Wilderness)
  • Estimated size: .25 acre
  • Resources: None at this time, monitor status
  • Estimated containment: not available, currently in monitor status
  • Estimated control: not available, currently in monitor status
  • Cause: lightning
  • Structures: None threatened


Emery Fire

  • Start: 5:25 p.m. Monday
  • Location: 13 miles S of Oakley, ID
  • Estimated size: 580 acres
  • Resources: Seven engines, two water tenders, two dozers, one helicopter and one crew on scene
  • Estimated containment: July 3 (no time specified)
  • Estimated control: July 6th (no time specified)
  • Cause: Lightning
  • Structures: None threatened.
  • BLM says a firefighter experiences a heat related injury Tuesday afternoon, and was taken to St. Luke's in Twin Falls for treatment.


Jim Brown Fire

  • Start: 6:22 p.m. Monday
  • Location: 6 miles NE of Richfield, ID
  • Estimated size: 13,000 acres
  • Resources: Nine engines and Carey Rural Fire Department
  • Estimated containment: July 3rd at 6 p.m.
  • Estimated control: July 5th at 6 p.m.
  • Cause: Lightning
  • Structures: None at this time.


Pointe Fire

  • Start: 6:28 p.m. Monday
  • Location: 6 miles SW of Rogerson, ID
  • Estimated size: 1,700 acres
  • Resources: Three engines, one water tender, two air tankers, one helicopter and eight smokejumpers.
  • Estimated containment: July 5 at 6 p.m.
  • Estimated control: July 7 at 6 p.m.
  • Cause: Lightning
  • Structures: None at this time


South Pointe

  • Start: 6:28 p.m. Monday
  • Location: 9 miles S of Rogerson, ID
  • Estimated size: 152 acres
  • Resources: Three Engines and one dozer
  • Estimated containment: July 2 at 10 p.m.
  • Estimated control: July 3 at 8 p.m.
  • Cause: Lightning
  • Structures: none at this time


Hwy 46 MM 103

  • Start: 6:52 p.m. Monday on private land
  • Location: Three miles N of Wendell, ID
  • Estimated size: 2,000 acres
  • Resources: Six engines, one water tender and one dozer
  • Estimated containment: July 2 at 6 p.m.
  • Estimated control: July 3 at 8 p.m.

Silver Creek

  • Start: 5:19 p.m. Monday
  • Location: 9 miles S of Carey, ID

  • Location: 20 NE of Paul, ID
