BOISE -- We have been following the story of a mother and daughter who were knitting caps for the men and women of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team.
Since we first reported the story, the response from people wanting to help knit has been huge. People from Oregon, Montana, Washington and Idaho have all been helping knit the caps.
Janet Thaldorf and Bea Mitchell say they have met their goal of having 2,700 caps before September.
They actually shipped of almost 3,300 caps Monday.
They have even more caps and will give them to the Veterans Volunteer Network who will use them for gift boxes for soldiers.
The knitted caps keep soldiers warm during the winter, and if soaked in water, cool in the summer.
