BOISE -- A federal judge says he won't issue an order preventing St. Luke's Health System from purchasing Nampa's Saltzer Medical Group.
That means the purchase agreement can move forward, for now. Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill denied a preliminary injunction against the purchase today, but set a July trial date for a lawsuit from Saint Alphonsus Health System.
Saint Alphonsus claims the buyout of Saltzer would give St. Luke’s such a dominant market share in Nampa that it could raise prices and block referrals to Saint Al’s there.
Winmill said it would still be possible to undo the deal if Saint Al's wins the case.
Investigations by the Federal Trade Commission and Idaho Attorney General also continue.
