CALDWELL -- The annual Caldwell Independence Day celebration began with a community parade led by Idaho's Governor.

Caldwell native Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter, along with First Lady Lori Otter, served as the grand marshals for the 2013 Caldwell July Fourth Parade.

Representatives from the Caldwell Police and Fire Depts, Idaho State Police, Canyon County Sheriff's Posse and Paramedics, the Idaho National Guard headed up the parade. Governor Otter led the contingent as Idaho's Commander in Chief.

The parade's opening ceremony happened in Caldwell's Memorial Park. Afterward, members of the Army National Guard along with First Lady Lori Otter lead local children in the pledge of allegiance.
