BOISE--  We are less than a week away from the Iowa caucuses.  This is the first battle between Republican candidates trying to win their party's presidential nomination.  One Idahoan is heading to Iowa for a fight of his own.

Political consultant Mike Tracy will fly out for Iowa Friday to represent Veterans for a Strong America.  Over the next couple of days, Tracy will be meeting with as many Republican presidential hopefuls as possible to talk with them about veteran issues.

"Being selected to be part of the project was a real honor and I'm planning on working really hard over the next year to make sure the veterans are represented very well," said Tracy.

As an Air Force veteran himself, Tracy knows the next president, whoever it may be, will play a big role in the life of veterans.  He wants candidates to listen to veterans concerns and for candidates to keep the promises they make.

Tracy and Veterans for a Strong America are tracking the candidates' promises and stances on veterans issues, everything they find out is going on their website.

"What this is going to do is allow veterans to talk directly to the candidates to find out what they think and what they feel about the issues," said Tracy.

Tracy won't stop talking about Veterans issues once the Iowa caucus is over.  He will follow candidates on the campaign trail.

"About every six or seven weeks we will be in a different state talking to the presidential candidates," said Tracy.

Veterans for a Strong America plans to talk to every candidate.

"It doesn't matter who they are, we will be talking to them," said Tracy.  "Because Veterans don't care about political party, they care about the issue and that is what is important the issue of taking care of our Veterans."
