IDAHO FALLS, Idaho -- Authorities say an Idaho Falls man shot and injured an intruder he found in his home.

Idaho Police Department officials say that 32-year-old Charles Hopkins was awakened in his basement early Thursday by his barking dogs. Hopkins grabbed his pistol, went upstairs and found a man in his bathroom.

The Idaho State Journal reports that Hopkins told the intruder not to move, but the man rushed at him.

Hopkins shot the man in the leg twice, after which the man limped out of the house.

Officials have identified the intruder as a 22-year-old man from Idaho Falls. He has not been charged with a crime, though the case is being reviewed by prosecutors.

He was treated at a hospital for his injuries.
