IDAHO CITY – A nearly 10-year wait is over in Idaho City.
The renovation of a hot springs pool is progressing nicely, according to a new posting Sunday on the Facebook page of The Springs.
The former Warm Springs Resort closed a decade ago. It was a popular Idaho City destination for many people in the Treasure Valley.
The rock work on the main pool building at The Springs is now done and can been seen in the new photos.
Once open, the resort will feature a hot springs Olympic-size pool with a 20-foot heated deck, an even warmer hot tub, a kiddie pool, cold soak and rock water fountain. There will also be a building with changing rooms, hot springs showers, lockers, and a snack bar.
The owner plans to expand the resort in the future with some overnight stay options like luxury camping, a tree fort, teepee, and Airstream trailers. They also plan to add summer concerts and seasonal festivals.
Resort officials expect to be open in the early fall with a target date of around Oct. 1.
Local businesses owners are excited about the reopening and hope it will give Idaho City a much-needed economic shot in the arm.
The resort also plans to hire 20 to 25 employees once it is open.
