EAGLE -- Customers and employees at Fred Meyer are pitching in for Idaho military families and wounded troops.

Thursday morning at Fred Meyer's Eagle Island Marketplace store, Fred Meyer presented a check for almost $10,000 to the Mountain West Field Office of Operation Homefront.

Mark Davison is the executive director of that office and  talked about what this means to National Guard members.

"When they go active duty, a lot of them are making a lot less money than what they were, so it puts a financial bind on our families that are in the military," said Davison.

The money for today's donation comes from employee donations and from coin boxes placed at customer checkout areas.
