BOISE -- Sport coaches are finding themselves getting very proactive about injuries to kids during contact sports.
The Optimist Youth Football program held a Tackle For Kids clinic Saturday for the football coaches.
The clinic shows the proper technique for safe tackling.
Organizers say it's the best way to make our kids safer in sports.
"The goal of this program is to increase player safety. It's for a better, safer game, and the way you do that is through the coaching staff. Coaches are the ones who are out on the field everyday with those kids. So if the coaches are learning the right drills and the signs from concussions then we can keep an eye on the kids," said Andy Ryland who is helping with the clinic.
Ryland says they start with foot drills and work their way up to body stance.
He says basic body positions are helpful in keeping kids healthy and secure when doing tackle football.
He says these coaches will use these practices in the future.
