BOISE -- A number of stores near the Boise Towne Square Mall saw shoppers standing in lines on Thanksgiving afternoon. They were getting ready to score some Black Friday deals.
KTVB checked out the lines at Best Buy and Toys 'R Us -- two stores known for early openings.
Best Buy has become well known nationwide for its long lines leading up to Black Friday shopping. As usual, we found people already waiting in line. However, many said Thursday's experience wasn't as crowded as years prior. The first person in line arrived Wednesday afternoon.
Last year, Toys 'R Us opened at 10 p.m. on Thursday evening -- a full two hours earlier than the midnight open many other stores choose. This year, Toys 'R Us moved it up again to 8 p.m.
The Toys 'R Us line was about as long as the one at Best Buy, and the first 200 people in line were rewarded with free toys.
Some people passed the time going over their shopping lists or checking out the coupons and advertisements. Others read or played games, but there was a sense of camaraderie in the lines as folks got to know each other while waiting.
