BOISE -- Several small fires broke out along the I-184 Connector on Tuesday afternoon causing traffic delays and at least one car accident.

Ada County dispatchers say the fires started at approximately 3 p.m. Several small fires were scattered between I-84 and the Flying Wye, I-84 and Maple Grove Road, and I-84 and Franklin Road.

Firefighters gained control of the fires at approximately 3:30 p.m.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. police had blocked-off Milwaukee Street's eastbound offramp near the Boise Towne Square Mall due to smoke. However, a short time later the ramp was reopened.

The right-hand lane of I-84 near Maple Grove Road and the Flying Wye was also blocked. Parts of Maple Grove Road near the affected area were closed but have since reopened to traffic.

Idaho State Police say a woman driver traveling on I-184 was possibly distracted by the flames just after they sparked, and crashed her vehicle, contributing to the chaos.

No word yet on what caused the fires.
