BOISE -- A two-alarm fire in southwest Boise near the airport has partially destroyed a home and killed two cats.
Shortly after 1 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of black smoke pouring out of a single-story, wood-frame home near Carbine Avenue. When crews arrived and found heavy flames, they called second alarm.
Firefighters were quickly able to attack the fire and contain the flames before the fire destroyed the entire home. Wood shake shingles on the house and the neighboring homes were a concern as firefighters fought to keep the flames from spreading.
However, the home's roof is clearly gone is some places.
Firefighters say no one was injured in the fire, and those living in the home weren't home when the flames broke out. The homeowner says a third cat has not yet been found.
The Red Cross and the Boise Fire Burnout Fund are helping the resident.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
