BOISE  -- Firefighters and Police tried to save a young man who drowned in Silver Pond near Lake Harbor Lane late Thursday night.

According to Boise Police, bystanders -- possibly the victim's family members -- first spotted the man's body in the pond about 20 feet from shore around 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower says when firefighters and police responded, they used a small boat they found nearby to retrieve the man's body. Hightower says firefighters performed CPR on the man, but were unable to save him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers reported finding fishing gear on shore near where the man was found floating, and say other witnesses saw him fishing earlier that night.

Hightower also described the man as being 20-years-old, and having a history of seizures, according to witnesses who knew him.

Boise Police continue to investigate. At this time there is no evidence of foul play.
