BOISE -- Detectives searching for whoever stole dozens of American flags from Boise's historic Harrison Boulevard last week say they've exhausted all leads and are now asking for the public's help in generating new tips.

27 flags were stolen from the historic light poles in the center of Harrison Boulevard between Hill Road and Hays Street on the 4th of July, police said. The flags were reported missing by a resident at 8:15 that morning.

The flags are 3 feet by 5 five in size and cost about $50 each, making the crime a felony, police said. They had been posted by neighborhood residents on July 2nd and were last seen the night of the 3rd.

The flags were mounted on brackets on the light poles 12 feet high. The Idaho flags displayed next to the American flags were not taken.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS, log onto www.343cops.com, or text CRIMES to 274637 with the subject Tip236.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information leading the arrest of suspects in the case.
