BOISE -- Open season on deer begins around most of Idaho in October.
In most regions of the state, the regular deer season opens October 10.
To hunt deer, a hunter must have a valid 2011 Idaho hunting license and a deer tag. A regular deer tag allows hunters to take either mule deer or white-tailed deer. A white-tailed deer tag allows hunters to only hunt a white-tailed deer.
Idaho Fish and Game encourages all hunters to report any poaching or suspicious activity they come across while hunting.
Hunters can report poaching to the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999, or the nearest Fish and Game office, or local law enforcement. Callers can remain anonymous.
