BOISE -- A weather-related crash with injuries blocked part of Franklin Road between Maple Grove and Five Mile roads for more than an hour Thursday morning.

The accident happened just after 9 a.m.

Police say four vehicles were involved, including two SUVs, a pickup, and a flatbed truck.

According to officers, two of the SUVs slid out of control, and at least one crossed from the eastbound to the westbound lanes, and hit the flatbed truck, causing the accident.

The driver of that SUV was transported to the hospital. Rescuers had to cut the door off his vehicle.

Police say icy roads were a major factor in the accident.

Franklin Road was closed at Cotterell Way for over an hour as crews cleaned up the crash.

“This crash is an example of what can happen when we don’t take the driving conditions around us into consideration.” Said Boise Police Officer Loren Hilliard, who responded to the scene. “We all need to slow down, give each other extra room and anticipate the actions of other drivers on the slick roads.”
