BOISE -- A convicted felon may be bound for a federal prison after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm.
John Gable of Boise conceded he had a Ruger .45 semi-automatic pistol when police contacted him in January at his apartment complex following a verbal altercation.
Gable isn't allowed to own any firearms after he was convicted in 1993 of racketeering.
After the 63-year-old man's guilty plea on Monday in U.S. District Court in Boise, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
He'll be sentenced on July 30 by U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill.
The case was prosecuted as part of Idaho's Project Safe Neighborhoods Program, which seeks to reduce gun violence in Idaho.
