BOISE -- It's a summer pastime that was once banned, but not after Tuesday night.

The Boise City Council unanimously passed an ordinance, that allows people to jump into the river, as long as they stay 50 feet away from floaters.

A violation would mean a $56 fine.

The ordinance will go in to effect in time for this year's float season.
