NAMPA -- An accident on Thursday afternoon in Nampa, has claimed the life of an 11-month-old girl.

Nampa Police say a mother of three was picking up her children at the Country Living Mobile Home Park in the 500 block of Caldwell Boulevard, just after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Police say two kids, a 2-year-old and an 11-month-old, were in the car. When a third child opened the door to get in, the 11-month-old baby fell onto the ground.

As the mother got out of the car to pick the baby up, she did not realize the car was still in gear causing it to roll backwards and run over both of them.

Both were taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. The baby was pronounced dead. The mother had non-life threatening injuries.

The Ada County coroner has identified the deceased girl as Dulce Jeanette Sanchez of Nampa. She would have turned one year-old next week. The cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma to the head.

No other children were hurt.

Police say the children were not in car seats or wearing seatbelts.
