NAMPA -- Canyon County Prosecutor John Bujak says he's still digging himself out of the debt he incurred after leaving the private sector to take public office two years ago.

Bujak left his lucrative job at a Nampa practice in 2008, when he unseated four-term county prosecutor Dave Young.

A few months after Bujak took on the lower-paying position, with its annual base salary of $101,608, his sprawling home in southwestern Idaho went into foreclosure.

Bujak told the Idaho Press-Tribune an agreement has been reached to pay off creditors and although he is still behind on house payments, he is working himself "out of the mess."

Bujak and his wife also face two new civil cases involving vehicle and credit card debts.
