CALDWELL -- A Caldwell man who shot two Canyon County sheriff's deputies last fall has pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

Canyon County Prosecutor Bryan Taylor said 28-year-old Kyle Batt will have to spend at least 30 years in prison. Ten years of the 40-year sentence will be indeterminate.

Batt admitted shooting deputies Michael Roth and Brad Childers on Oct. 23, 2012, while they were at his house to investigate a crime involving a gun.

Batt was sentenced in federal court in August for two gun-related crimes.

Prosecutors say this sentence will run concurrent to the federal sentence.

Sentencing for Batt is scheduled for Dec. 13, 2013.
