BURLEY, Idaho -- Burley Mayor Terry Greenman is scheduled to meet Monday with Minidoka County commissioners to discuss whether the county would be interested in signing on to a regional airport venture.
The Times-News reports that Burley officials for years have been trying to figure out a way to replace the Burley airport built in 1930 and that officials say is no longer adequate.
The airport in 2002 was rededicated as the Burley J.R. "Jack" Simplot Airport.
Burley's airport siting committee in November backed away from four sites it chose as possible new airport locations after area landowners complained the sites contained the best agricultural lands they depend on to make a living.
