BOISE -- A 20-year-old Boise man is accused of running over a police officer's foot while driving away from the scene of an alleged car burglary Monday.
Maxwell A. Dosh is charged with felony battery on a police officer, among other crimes, in connection with the incident.
According to Boise police, the 20-year-old was approached by a police officer who noticed him suspiciously enter a car Monday afternoon near the Boise Towne Square Mall parking lot.
The officer was checking on reports of a suspicious man looking in car windows phoned in by private security workers.
When approached by the officer, Dosh allegedly backed the car up, struck the police officer's squad car, and then ran over the officer's foot before driving away.
Boise police and Ada County Sheriff's deputies began a search for the man, who they eventually identified as Dosh. They say he abandoned the car in a parking lot near Emerald Street and North Ash Park Place, then ran away on foot. Dosh was eventually arrested when he ran to the back door of a home on North Frazier Place a few hours later.
Police say the 20-year-old has an outstanding warrant for felony probation violation. He's currently in the Ada County Jail.
The officer injured was treated on the scene by paramedics.
Dosh was arrested and charged with grand theft auto and drug possession in June of 2012.
