BOISE – A 19-year-old Boise man was arrested Tuesday night after creating an elaborate story about being attacked by two men and strangled with an electrical cord.

Shawn Sheltra Jr. was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with filing a false police report.

Ada County Sheriff’s deputies began their investigation just after 5 p.m. Tuesday after getting a call that a man was found lying on the ground just off Five Mile Road, near West Bigwood Drive.

Several people stopped to help Sheltra who claimed he was attacked by two men from behind. He said he was knocked unconscious and woke up with an electrical cord around his neck and the words "your next" written on his stomach with a permanent marker.

Sheltra was taken to a local hospital for treatment while 19 deputies began working the case and searching the area for the attackers.  A section of Five Mile Road was closed during the rush hour commute while officers investigated.

At the hospital detectives learned Sheltra did not have any injuries that showed he had been attacked or choked.  About three hours after the initial report to police, Sheltra admitted he made up the entire story.  He also said he wrote on himself several days ago after watching the movie "You're Next."

The 19-year-old told deputies he made the story up and faked the whole thing in an attempt to get back together with a former girlfriend.

The misdemeanor charge of providing false information to police is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
