BOISE -- Police say a 25-year-old Boise man was drunk at the wheel when he sped past a police car going westbound on Federal Way early Friday morning.

Officers say the resulting high-speed chase involved several police cars.

Boise Police arrested Ian A. Schach around 1 a.m. Friday. They say Schach drove at speeds of up to 75 m.p.h. during the chase, ignored several stop signs, and then tried to shut his headlights off to elude the officer he passed at high speed.

Police say at that point, the officer chasing Schach stopped pursuing the 25-year-old for safety reasons. The officer then called for several more police cars to help in the search.

Schach was eventually found and arrested near Pennsylvania Street and Park Center Blvd. Police say his blood alcohol level was measured at .14, which is almost twice the legal limit.

He was booked at the Ada County Jail for felony fleeing and evading police, and misdemeanor DUI.
