BOISE -- The Boise Rescue Mission is putting final touches on it's turkey dinner.

Wednesday, the shelter plans to feed thousands of hungry mouths.

Cooks and volunteers have been planning this meal for months.

They finally finished their grocery shopping, gathered their food donations and have been cooking all week.

Wednesday, Boise Rescue Mission guests can expect a warm meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and green beans.

Pumpkin pies topped with whipped cream will finish it off.

Guests will not go through a buffet line. Plates of food will be brought to their seats in the dining hall.

The Mission says there is plenty of food and because of the economy, they are expecting to feed lot of homeless people this year.

The community and volunteers are continuously bringing in food and donations and volunteering time to make this place run.

That's the only reason this place is still here because of the community and the volunteers," Kelly Hobbs of the Boise Rescue Mission said.

Mission volunteers start their day at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Meals will be served every hour beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The general public is welcome to come for a meal from 1 p.m to 3 p.m.

Governor Butch Otter and the First Lady will be serving the turkey dinner.

Some of the KTVB staff will also be on hand.

The Boise Rescue Mission is also hosting a turkey dinner in Nampa at the First Church of the Nazarene.

The church is located at 601 16th Avenue South.

The times for the Nampa dinner are the same as those in Boise.

In Caldwell, a free turkey dinner will be served to the public at the Oasis Worship and Food Center from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Oasis Worship and Food Center is located at 611 13th Street.
