KUNA – Explosives Ordinance Device experts have determined that a 155mm artillery round found in the backyard of Kuna home this afternoon does not pose a danger to the public.

The property owner found the round in the backyard of a rental home that was recently vacated. The home is in the 12700 block of Sonora Avenue.

Ada County Sheriff’s deputies closed off Sonora Avenue and nearby streets as a precautionary measure until the bomb disposal unit could arrive on scene, and determine what the round is.

Deputies went door-to-door alerting neighbors who live within 1,000 feet of the home. Some residents chose to leave their homes until the incident was resolved.

We are told the round is an expended illumination round and will be taken to another location and disposed.

Deputies are opening up roads again and allowing residents to return to their homes.
