BOISE -- Good news for drivers in Ada County, starting January 1, 2010, vehicles will only need emission testing every other year.
The Treasure Valley Air Quality Board Council submitted the recommendation last year and it was approved by the Idaho Legislature.
The new law also says all new vehicles for the first four years will be exempt along with hybrids and cars older than 1981.
The maximum test fee will be $20.
The changes will put the Ada County program in alignment with the new program being developed for Canyon County.
The Air Quality Board will contine to notify vehicle owners when their vehicles must be emissions tested.
