BOISE -- Roosevelt Elementary School in Boise may be 91 years old but the principal says it is still cutting edge. After a yearlong, top-to-bottom remodel, the school had its official re-dedication Thursday morning.
Looking at the building it is hard to believe that it was built back in 1920. As they say, some things just get better with age. That is what people are saying about Roosevelt Elementary School.
Once the ribbon was cut people started checking out the school's facelift.
The library was redone, classrooms made bigger, and the school became more energy-efficient.
The renovation was paid for using money from a 2006 bond election.
Teachers and students say they love the updated school. Principal JuliAnne Bronner couldn't agree more.
"I love it. I love that it looks like an old school house but inside it is totally up to date,” said Bronner. “I don't think it's ever looked so good. I've seen pictures and I'm telling you, it looks fabulous, and the kids are excited to be in the new place."
Bronner says students are taking a lot of pride in the new school. We heard some of them sing the school song earlier, one of the lines says "Roosevelt is where we will stay!"
The school plans to have students filling their halls for years to come.
During the remodel last year students were moved to Fort Boise Mid High School.
