BOISE -- A Boise man and father of three has been charged with raping a woman while she slept.
The suspect, Robert Cornford, is a maintenance worker for a trailer park, a position that gave him easy access to several homes.
He was arraigned in an Ada County courtroom today on a felony rape charge.
The suspect is 22 years old while his alleged victim 44 years old.
Court records say Robert Cornford was the maintenance man at a trailer park on Overland Road.
At 8 a.m. on Sept. 24, he was called to fix a leaky bathroom faucet in one of the trailer park's homes.
The victim was staying at the trailer with a friend. That friend had already left for the morning when police say Cornford went in.
The woman was asleep but the prosecutor says while Cornford raped her -- she woke up.
"He lies several times about the story, first saying he never had sex with her then says it was consensual, he takes a polygraph and the polygraph comes back that he was being deceptive," stated an Ada County prosecutor in court.
Cornford is being held in the Ada County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 22.
Cornford has 13 prior arrests includingconvictions for disturbing the peace and a minor in possession of alcohol.
