3 hurt in head-on wreck near Emmett

EMMETT, Idaho -- Three people were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash near Emmett Monday morning.

The wreck happened about 9:30 a.m. on Idaho 16 near the line between Gem and Ada counties.

Idaho State Police say 20-year-old Morgan Meadows of Nampa was headed north when his Ford Focus crossed the center line and hit an oncoming Honda Accord. The Honda, driven by 29-year-old Michael Sanders of Emmett, was pushed back by the impact and hit a Kia Sorrento driven by 33-year-old Melissa Harris of Emmett.

Police say neither Meadows nor his passenger, 18-year-old Hailee Meadows of Nampa, was wearing a seatbelt. Hailee Meadows was airlifted to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, while Morgan Meadows was taken by ground ambulance to Valor Health in Emmett.

Sanders, who was wearing a seatbelt, was also taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Harris, who was also wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

The crash blocked traffic for about three hours.

Police say the driver of the Ford told troopers he fell asleep at the wheel just before the crash. Bloods tests to determine whether Meadows was driving under the influence of anything are pending.

All three people injured in the wreck are expected to survive. The crash remains under investigation.
