BOISE -- Firefighters had to hike up a steep trail in the Boise foothills to extinguish four small, grass fires in Camel's Back Reserve around 11:30 Monday morning.
According to Lynn Hightower, spokesperson for the Boise Fire Dept., the fire did not damage any structures or any large areas of sagebrush and grass.
However, Hightower says that the circumstances surrounding the fires are unusual. Fire and police crews are now investigating the situation as a crime.
Police say a citizen tip helped firefighters discover the four campfire-sized patches of burning grass and sagebrush around 10:30 Monday morning. Police say the exact location of those patches was just off a trail heading northeast from 8th street, near Sunset Peak Road.
Hightower also says firefighters found the first two fires fairly close to each other, while the third and fourth were found 300 to 400 yards further up the trail.
The fires were declared controlled at 11:20 a.m.
