CALDWELL -- A 46-year-old Caldwell man will go to prison for rape, first-degree kidnapping, and the use of a deadly weapon during the crime.
Back in July, 46-year-old Pablo Salinas was found guilty of forcing a woman to have sex by holding a large hunting knife to her throat.
On Friday, Salinas was give a minimum sentence of 4 ½ years, up to 15 years in prison.
Salinas was also ordered to register as a Sex Offender, have no contact with the victim, and to pay her a $1,500 civil penalty.
The State recommended Salinas' sentence be a minimum of 10 years, and up to 40 years.
"The Defendant terrified the victim, holding a Rambo-style knife to her, and threatening to kill her if she did not engage in sex with him," said Deputy Prosecutor Erica Kallin. "The Defendant doesn't seem to understand that a knife does not make the sex consensual."
Police say the crime occurred in January, 2011.
