ISP identifies pedestrian killed in crash involving KCSO deputy

HAYDEN, Idaho – Idaho State Police identified the woman killed in a crash early Saturday morning when a Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputy hit her.

Amber Viuhkola, 38, of Hayden died from her injuries at the scene, according to ISP.

Officials said the deputy was going southbound on Highway 95 near Miles Avenue around 1:35 a.m. when the deputy hit the pedestrian in the roadway.

The deputy was not identified by ISP.

A local business released surveillance video of the crash. KREM 2 edited the video to not show the impact.

The crash is still under investigation. Anyone who may have saw the crash is asked to contact Idaho State Police at 208-209-8730.
