New information today on the DEA's plan to outlaw the popular herbal supplement Kratom and classify it as a Schedule 1 drug.
After strong public backlash the agency has decided to hold off on the ban and take public comment on the issue.
Users claim Kratom is a natural pain reliever and claim it can help with symptoms of everything from depression to PTSD.
Some say it can also be used to treat opioid addiction.
The DEA has reported several cases in which the substance has caused psychosis in users, in addition to other dangerous side effects.
But a Texas woman who took medications for pain, depression and anxiety says Kratom helped her get off prescription drugs.
“I used to be so many medications, it was hard to keep up, it's given back quality of life for me for sure,” said Jordan Dodson.
