TWIN FALLS -- The Idaho State Department of Education says Idaho's children are getting fatter, with nearly 25 percent of first-graders overweight or obese.

The department released the report this week. It found that more than 30 percent of kids in Idaho are overweight or obese. Thatcompares to more than 33 percent nationwide.

Twin Falls School District nurse Terry Callen told The Times-News that the problem stems from poor nutrition and a lack of education and encouragement at the family level.
