BOISE -- One weekend down and several more to go.

The Central District Health Department says the first H1N1 vaccine clinics in Boise went well, but some changes are necessary so future clinics run a little smoother.

While the two clinics were considered a success, health officials will meet Monday to begin to hash out what worked and what didn't.

At the Boise clinic near Parkcenter and Apple, some people arrived the night before and stood in line for 12 hours.

Thousands showed up to get one of the 2,500 doses of the vaccine.

Central District Health ran out of the injectable form, but a couple hundred doses of the flu mist were left over.

Some of the things health officials want to improve for next time are -- instead of having one line, make several lines.

And at the head of each line, have someone identify if people need the shot or the flu-mist. That way they can be sent to the correct area sooner.

And since the health department didn't completely run out of their vaccine doses, it may revisit its policy of turning those away who showed up but didn't fit into a priority group.

"Things overall went fairly smooth. There were a few bugs here and there that we needed to work out, because this is the first time we've done this," said CDHD spokesman Dave Fotsch.

Both of the Boise clinics were scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

But because the injectable vaccine ran out, one clinic ended at 12:30 p.m. and the other ended at 4 p.m.

Toward the end, the health department says there weren't any lines. So next time people may not need to camp out overnight.
