BOISE -- Your calls and questions are now being answered concerning Idaho's health insurance exchange.
The call center in Boise opened on Monday, with enrollment starting on October 1st.
Heidi Zimmers is one of the ten people available to answer your questions about the Your Health Idaho system, and direct you to the resources you need.
She's spent the last month learning everything she can about Idaho's new health insurance marketplace.
"Primary question I'm hearing so far is, 'How is this going to affect me,' as an individual calling in on the phone," said Zimmers.
The call center, or Consumer Resource Center, is now open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
"I enjoy being able to help someone who may not have the information or resources they need so for me it's been really great," said Zimmers.
The call center is just one option, you can check out insurance plans yourself online starting Tuesday, and you will also be able to visit in-person assisters or agents across the state.
Wednesday's official call center opening marks the start of Idaho's transition to a new marketplace for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.
"These folks are going to be our first line of defense when it comes to explaining this very complicated, new marketplace that we are working in, explain the plans, what the costs are, how to access premium assistance," said Operation Project Manager Alberto Gonzalez.
For the first few days, the call center got an average of 25 calls each day. On Wednesday, that number jumped to 45 calls. The amount of callers is only expected to rise once enrollment begins on October 1st.
