Don't be so quick to grab the diet ice cream next time you need a fix -- there could be way more calories packed into those little pints than listed on the label.
NBC News recently rounded up nine various diet ice creams to test, including Ben & Jerry's, Weight Watchers, Skinny Cow and Arctic Zero. Arctic Zero has recently become popular among dieters, advertising 150 calories in a pint.
Each were sent to a laboratory for blind test according to industry standards.
Here are the results:
-- Arctic Zero Vanilla Maple = 46 percent more calories than the label
-- Arctic Zero Chocolate Peanut Butter = 68 percent more calories
-- Weight Watchers Giant Chocolate Fudge Sundae Cone = 13 percent more calories
-- Weight Watchers Ice Cream Candy Bar = 16 percent more calories
-- Ben & Jerry's Fro-Yo Chocolate Fudge Brownie = within 10 percent calories on the label
-- Stonyfield's Creme Caramel Frozen Yogurt = within 10 percent calories on the label
-- Skinny Cow Cookies n' Cream Truffle Bar = fewer calories than the label
-- Stonyfield Minty Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt = fewer calories than the label
-- Ben & Jerry's Fro-Yo Half-Baked = fewer calories than the label
Arctic Zero said their calorie count is accurate.
